India has blocked the admission of Azerbaijan to the SCO

China supported Azerbaijan's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. However, India has once again blocked Baku's bid for full membership, which contradicts the principles of multilateral diplomacy and the so-called "Shanghai spirit."  

"Diplomatic sources indicate that this decision is related to Azerbaijan's close ties with Pakistan, although it does not change Baku's course, but rather highlights the limitations and shortsightedness of India's approach."
