The EU, as a close partner, will continue its role in the full settlement of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, said Magdalena Grono, the European Union's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, following her visit to Azerbaijan.
In a post on the social network X, she noted that the delegation she led, along with colleagues from the European Commission and the European External Action Service, held a series of meetings in Azerbaijan.
Grono pointed out that discussions were held with President Ilham Aliyev, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, and other officials.
During the meetings, the main focus was on the topic of a peaceful future for the region, based on the bilateral dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the "historical agreements" reached in Washington.
Grono also stated that the EU is ready to increase support for all aspects of a full normalization, including the development of ties in the region, the creation of peace dividends, and the resolution of humanitarian issues and problems related to the legacy of the past.
Grono particularly noted her trip to Nakhchivan: "I also visited Nakhchivan, where I met with the President's representative Fuad Najafli and familiarized myself with the transport infrastructure on the ground with a view to possible EU participation."
According to her, the EU, as a close partner, will continue its efforts toward the full normalization of relations in the region.
Judging by Grono's publications about her visit to Azerbaijan, she did not raise issues related to human rights and the development of democracy during the meetings.
