Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine – Russian forces launched a series of intense attacks across Ukraine overnight on July 29, resulting in significant civilian casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure, including a deadly strike on a correctional facility in Zaporizhzhia and hits on medical and residential buildings in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The most severe incident occurred in the Zaporizhzhia region, where Russian military forces struck a correctional facility with guided aerial bombs. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, confirmed that the attack killed 16 people and injured 35 others. Officials stated that the facility's buildings were destroyed, and nearby private homes also sustained damage.
Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, condemned the incident, declaring it "another Russian war crime; they will not stop unless they are prevented."
In parallel attacks, Russian forces utilized unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to target a settlement in the Synelnykove district of the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, rescuers were hit again while attempting to extinguish a fire, resulting in damage to a fire truck, as reported by "Current Time." Serhiy Lysak, Head of the Dnipropetropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported that these drone strikes impacted several settlements in the Synelnykove district, leading to 2 deaths and 3 injuries. The damage included five private residential buildings, an administrative building, shops, a gas station, and several cars.
Further strikes hit the city of Kamianske, also in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where a missile strike damaged a three-story building of the city hospital and a maternity hospital. Lysak confirmed that this attack resulted in 2 fatalities and 5 injuries, noting that two women are in serious condition, one of whom is pregnant.
These coordinated attacks underscore a continuing pattern of strikes on civilian and non-military targets across Ukraine, drawing strong condemnation from Ukrainian officials who label them as war crimes.
