Russia supports the joint decision of Azerbaijan and Armenia to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group, which was engaged in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, according to a statement by Russia's Permanent Representative to the OSCE, Alexander Lukashevich, to RBC. He clarified that the group is planned to be officially disbanded by December 2025.
According to him, the decision concerns the termination of three institutions: the Minsk Group, the post of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, and the High-Level Planning Group.
"Taking into account the position of the parties on the inexpediency of maintaining these bodies, we see no reason to obstruct their dissolution," the diplomat said.
Earlier, on August 26, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced that the OSCE Permanent Council would make the decision to dissolve the Minsk Group on September 1.
