Foundation of basalt products manufacturing plant laid in Ganja

On August 20, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the foundation laying ceremony of the basalt products manufacturing plant of Azerbazalt LLC in Ganja.

The plant will produce basalt powder and organic fertilizers based on it. The project will be implemented in two stages. The investment cost of the first stage will be 27 million manats.

The plant, with a total area of 4 hectares, will produce 360 thousand tons of organic fertilizers per year. The enterprise, built on the basis of Swedish and Turkish technologies, will use high-quality basalt mined at the Chaykend deposit in the Goygol region as its main raw material. At the first stage of the project, it is planned to provide 200 people with permanent jobs. The second stage of the project will include the production of basalt-based products - basalt fiber, filament, which is a raw material for 3D printers, and other industrial materials. The second stage of the project will employ 300 people. The products will meet both domestic demand and be exported to foreign markets. Basalt fibers are used to produce filtering, soundproofing, heat-resistant, anti-corrosion coatings, additives for concrete and other high-strength materials used in construction, aviation, rocket engineering and the automotive industry.
