President Ilham Aliyev signs a decree to merge BakuBus and Baku Taxi Service into the Baku Metro. Discover how this restructuring aims to improve public transport safety, digital payment solutions, and centralized coordination in Azerbaijan's capital.

The Baku Metro will now include 'BakuBus' and taxi services. This change comes after President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on May 7.

The decree says that 'BakuBus' and 'Baku Taxi Service' will be merged into the Baku Metro.

The Baku Metro must now make public transport better and safer. They must use digital solutions to organize services and make paying for fares easier. They will also coordinate public transport from one center.

A new Supervisory Board with five members is being set up to oversee the Baku Metro.

'Baku Taxi Service' was created in 2015 under the Ministry of Transport. 'BakuBus' was created in 2014 under the Baku City Executive Power.

Recently there have been efforts to improve taxi services. However this has led to taxis and higher prices. Some economists think this is because one company is controlling the taxi services.

Year on October 1 the fare, for the metro and some bus routes went up to 60 kopecks. The fare had gone up by 10 kopecks a year earlier. Some experts think that the government may raise prices again.
