Azerbaijan and Armenia Initial Peace Agreement

In Washington, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Jeyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan, have initialed the agreement on "Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan." The text of the agreement will be made public on Monday. The parties also signed a joint appeal to the OSCE to conclude the activities of the Minsk Group and related structures.

The text of the agreement was finalized by both sides in March 2025. Initialing the document signifies that no further changes or additions can be made to it.

Azerbaijan had conditioned the final signing of the treaty on the removal of any mention of "Nagorno-Karabakh" from the Armenian Constitution.
