U.S. Trade Mission Arrives in Baku

A U.S. trade mission arrived in Baku to discuss the Middle Corridor, energy security, and the development of Azerbaijan-U.S. relations. Learn about key negotiations, strengthening trade ties, and projects including natural gas and renewable energy exports to Europe.

On September 8, Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, received a delegation from the U.S. trade mission for the Middle Corridor, who were visiting Baku.


According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the meeting noted the historical significance of the signed documents and the negotiations held on August 8 in Washington with the participation of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States.


The agreements reached not only contribute to regional peace and progress but also open up great prospects for Azerbaijan-U.S. relations, the press release further stated.


"In this context, the importance of the project for unimpeded communication between the western regions of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was highlighted," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry emphasized.


The Foreign Ministry recalled that in recent years, Azerbaijan has made great efforts to revitalize and operationalize the Middle Corridor, implementing specific projects such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the Baku International Sea Trade Port, and the Alat Free Economic Zone.


Furthermore, it was noted that Azerbaijan has "strategic ties with its eastern partners along the Middle Corridor, as well as with friendly and fraternal countries in Central Asia."


The parties stated that Azerbaijan has played an important role in ensuring Europe's energy security for many years, and the number of countries receiving natural gas from Azerbaijan has reached 14. Currently, Azerbaijan is implementing large-scale projects for the development and supply of renewable energy to Europe. In this context, the importance of constructing a subsea energy cable across the Black Sea was noted, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry statement concluded.
