State-Backed Kanye West Concert in Tbilisi Sparks Domestic and International Backlash

The government of Georgia is in trouble after they said they would have Kanye West perform in Tbilisi. This is a deal because Kanye West, who now calls himself Ye has said some very bad things about Jewish people and likes some ideas that are connected to the Nazis.

The Ministry of Culture in Georgia is in charge of "Starring Georgia" which is putting on the Kanye West concert. They think Kanye West is an important musician but a lot of people in Georgia do not agree. They think it is wrong for the government to pay for a concert by someone who has said bad things.

This is not what is happening in countries. In the UK the government said Kanye West could not come into the country so his concert in London was canceled. This was because he made a song called "Heil Hitler" and sold clothes with swastikas on them.

Even though Kanye West said sorry for what he did a lot of people still do not want him to perform in their countries. He was supposed to perform in Poland and Switzerland. Those concerts were canceled because people were upset and worried about safety.

In Georgia people are upset for a reason. They think the government is being hypocritical by having Kanye West perform. The government has used some language that sounds like it is against people so it seems like they are being inconsistent.

Eka Chitanava, who works for an organization that tries to promote tolerance said that it is not surprising that the government would have Kanye West perform, given their history of using language that's against Jewish people.

Keti Chikviladze, who started an organization in Tbilisi said that she does not think the government did not know about Kanye Wests past. She thinks they just do not care about what Jewish people think.

The government of Georgia wants to make their country a big place for music so they are having Kanye West perform as part of this plan. They are not talking about the bad things he has said and done.

The people in charge of the concert have not said how much tickets will cost yet. They also have not said anything about the fact that a lot of people're upset about the concert. It is not clear if the concert will happen or if it will be canceled like some of Kanye Wests concerts.
