Rubinyan and Kılıç Discuss Launch of Gyumri-Kars Railway Link

On September 12, special representatives for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey, Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan and Ambassador Serdar Kılıç, held their sixth meeting in Yerevan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, "during this meeting, the special representatives reaffirmed the issues developed and agreed upon at previous meetings, with the aim of advancing the process of full normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey." In this context, they exchanged views on the implementation of the agreement on delimitation issues reached at the July 1, 2022 meeting and agreed to accelerate this process.
The special representatives also agreed that the relevant bodies of both countries will conduct the necessary technical studies for the restoration and launch of the Gyumri-Kars railway link and power transmission line.
They also agreed to make efforts to strengthen cooperation in the fields of culture and academic activities, particularly by creating scholarship opportunities for university students and jointly restoring the bridge of the historic city of Ani/Silk Road.
The special representatives also agreed to carry out the necessary work aimed at organizing flights in various directions by other interested companies starting from summer 2026, which will increase the number of flights and routes between the two countries. In conclusion, the special representatives reaffirmed their commitment to continuing this process without any preconditions.
