The Caspian Defense Studies Institute (CDSI) stated that the irrecoverable losses of the Azerbaijani armed forces in 2025 amounted to 42 servicemen. All of them lost their lives in non-combat conditions.

According to the report, 7 Azerbaijani soldiers died in car accidents in 2025, 7 as a result of accidents (caught in avalanches, drowned, fell from cliffs, carbon monoxide poisoning), 12 died from various diseases, 10 committed suicide, two more became victims of "illegal actions," and 2 died for unknown reasons.

24 of the deceased were personnel of the Ministry of Defense, 11 of the State Border Service, 2 of the Ministry of Justice Security Regiment, 2 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 1 of the Presidential Security Service, and 1 of the Internal Troops. CDSI staff were unable to determine which security structure one additional soldier belonged to.

Among the deceased, 25 were private soldiers, 7 were officers, 6 were warrant officers, 2 were extended-service servicemen, and 2 were cadets.

In the past year, 11 military personnel were wounded, injured, or poisoned. Specifically, one serviceman was wounded in an anti-terrorist operation, three were poisoned, and another 7 were injured by landmine explosions.

CDSI notes that in 2024, the irrecoverable losses of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces totaled 51 people. Of these, 49 died in non-combat conditions, and two others died from wounds sustained in the previous year.

The Caspian Defense Studies Institute (CDSI) began its work in February 2015 in Germany. One of its founders was Jasur Sumerinli, who headed the "Doctrine" Center for Journalist Military Research until his departure from Azerbaijan in 2014.
