Russia's federal agency for technical regulation, Rosstandart, has approved a new interstate standard for ceramic sanitary products, including toilets, bidets, and sinks.**
The new regulations, which replace the 2017 standards, will officially come into force in Russia on 1 June 2026.
The standard establishes a comprehensive classification and set of basic dimensions for porcelain, semi-porcelain, and earthenware products intended for use in domestic and commercial buildings.
The agreement was reached following a vote involving several member states, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
The document provides precise definitions for various types of plumbing. Toilets are now categorised by installation type (floor-standing or wall-hung), construction (compact, monoblock, or attached), and flushing mechanism (rimmed, rimless, or showering).
Similarly, the standards classify sinks as wall-hung, furniture-integrated, or freestanding, while bidets and urinals are divided into floor-standing and wall-hung models.
