Iran-Azerbaijan ties: Positive dynamics and Tehran's gratitude for regional support.

It is noted that relations between Iran and Azerbaijan are developing in a positive direction. This was officially stated by the former spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saeed Khatibzadeh. Khatibzadeh stated that Iran expresses its gratitude to all friendly countries in the region, including Azerbaijan, for their support.

According to the diplomat, a telephone conversation took place recently between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. During that call, a decision was made to further develop and strengthen bilateral relations.

Khatibzadeh emphasized that relations with all countries in the region are of a positive nature. In this context, giving an interview to NTV at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, the representative also clarified views regarding the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the strait remains open for commercial vessels.

Experts note that Iran-Azerbaijan relations faced a series of misunderstandings in 2024. These relations had taken on a sharp character due to diplomatic tensions. However, in recent months, both countries have been striving to restore high-level contacts, and the positive development of bilateral relations is being officially confirmed.

Agreements aimed at further deepening cooperation between the two neighboring countries list energy, transit, and interstate relations as top priorities. As this framework aligns with the economic and regional interests of both nations, it creates a solid foundation for the normalization of relations.
