The European Union is giving Ukraine an amount of money ninety billion euros to help them. This money will be given to Ukraine over the two years. The European Union ambassadors agreed to do this after a time of talking and trying to figure things out. They were able to agree because Russia started sending oil through the pipeline again and Hungary and Slovakia said okay to the plan.
The European Union will only give Ukraine the money when the oil starts flowing to Central Europe. Now the oil is being pumped through the pipeline and it should get to Hungary and Slovakia very soon. The president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the pipeline was fixed after it was damaged by airstrikes but he is still worried that it could be attacked again.
It was not easy to get to this point. Hungary and Slovakia did not agree with Ukraine. Said they were taking too long to fix the pipeline. This made it hard for the European Union to help Ukraine. Then Hungary had elections and the new leaders said they would help the European Union with their plans, for Ukraine.
The European Union is also putting pressure on Russia by adding more sanctions. The ninety billion euros that the European Union is giving to Ukraine is a loan that the European Union will pay for together. They will not use the money that they took from Russia to pay for it. This is because Belgium did not agree to use that money so they had to find another way.
The European Union will start sending the money to Ukraine in April or May. They are trying to help Ukraine a lot because Ukraine needs a lot of money to recover. The International Monetary Fund says that Ukraine needs one hundred and thirty five billion euros by 2027. The European Union is going to try to give them most of that money. This shows that the European Union is committed to helping Ukraine even though it is complicated. The European Union wants to help Ukraine be strong again. They are willing to work through the hard parts to do it. The European Union and Ukraine are working together. The European Union is giving Ukraine the money it needs.
