Baku Extradites Uzbek Citizen Wanted for Insulting Mirziyoyev

The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has extradited to Uzbek law enforcement agencies a man who was on an international wanted list for "demeaning the honor of the president" of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office, Amonbek Yusupov, born in 1982, was arrested in Baku in April 2025.

The decision to hand over Yusupov was made in accordance with the international Convention on Legal Assistance in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office emphasized.

An article on insulting the president exists in the legislation of both Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. Uzbek authorities have not yet commented on Yusupov's extradition.
