Baku and London are Satisfied with BP's Activity in Azerbaijan

On August 24, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the UK Minister of State for Europe, North America, and Overseas Territories, Stephen Doughty.


According to the website of the Azerbaijani head of state, Doughty congratulated Aliyev "on the historic results achieved in Washington on the normalization of relations with Armenia and the advancement of the peace agenda."


He expressed the UK's readiness to support this process. He also noted "the importance of the agreements reached in Washington on regional transport links."


Aliyev stated that "Azerbaijan will continue to make efforts to advance the peace agenda and normalize relations with Armenia."


During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for the development of ties between Azerbaijan and the UK, expressing satisfaction with the current state of political relations.


The official statement also noted broad prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the trade and economic sphere, in the information and communication technologies sector, and in the field of education.


Aliyev and Doughty also touched upon energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UK.


"It was emphasized that for over 30 years, Azerbaijan has been successfully cooperating with the company BP in both the traditional and renewable energy sectors. Hope was expressed for the continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation with BP in the future," the press release concluded.
