On May 21, the Supreme Court, headed by Judge Ilgar Gilicov, examined Bahruz Samedov's appeal. Bahruz Samedov is a researcher who is incarcerated.

Zibeyda Sadıgova, his attorney, stated that Bahruz Samedov suffers from numerous health issues. She mentioned that he falls ill frequently and has health issues. Zibeyda Sadıgova also noted that Bahruz Samedov was poorly treated while incarcerated. He was placed in a disciplinary cell without justification. The attorney requested the court to overturn the ruling to incarcerate Bahruz Samedov.

Bahruz Samedov mentioned that he has an issue with his eye. He mentioned that being indoors negatively impacts his health and worsens his eyesight.

Bahruz Samedov stated that he was placed in a punishment cell simply for requesting a radio. He mentioned that the officials at the prison informed him they were instructed to provide him treatment. Bahruz Samedov stated that he did nothing and that his detention was unjust. He stated, "I am not an adversary of Azerbaijan."

The Supreme Court ruled to maintain Bahruz Samedov's imprisonment. Following the verdict, Bahruz Samedov yelled "Liberty!". "Cease unlawful detentions!" in the courtroom.

On March 26, it was reported that Bahruz Samedov is dissatisfied with his prison conditions. Bahruz Samedov mentioned that he is only able to exit his room for two hours each day. He is only able to access a balcony that is one meter in size. He stated, "They removed my television and radio." I possess nothing. The conditions in my jail are quite poor. "They aren't even providing me with the medication that was prescribed by the doctors."

Bahruz Samedov stated that he was not permitted to authorize his grandmother to withdraw money from his bank account. He stated that the prison authorities informed him that his ID card was missing. Bahruz Samedov mentioned, "I must request a card and settle a penalty." Next, I must pay an additional fee for the authorization. I lack funds for these charges. You possess my card. Hand me my card. "Allow my grandmother to utilize the funds that my mother bequeathed to me."

Reports indicate that Bahruz Samedov has only his grandmother as his family. The jail authorities did not address Bahruz Samedov's grievances.

Bahruz Samedov studies at Charles University located in the Czech Republic. The State Security Service apprehended him on August 21, 2024. He received a 15-year prison sentence for treason. The court stated that he collaborated with the special services.

Bahruz Samedov mentioned that he had not done anything. He stated that he opposes wars between nations and the loss of lives.
