Azerbaijan expresses support for Qatar's sovereignty and its mediation efforts for a Gaza ceasefire. Learn about the country's position on the Israeli strike on Hamas headquarters, the need for peace talks, and its commitment to a two-state solution for Palestine.

Azerbaijan is concerned about the aerial attack on Qatar and supports the country's sovereignty and integrity. Baku is also committed to the "two-state" principle and supports solutions for Palestine based on international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov participated in an emergency summit of Arab and Muslim leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha. In his speech, he expressed "concern about the latest aerial attack on Qatar," emphasizing the importance of respecting the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Bayramov urged the parties to prevent further escalation and to strictly adhere to the norms of international law and the UN Charter. He highly praised Qatar's mediation efforts in resolving the crisis in the Gaza Strip and underscored the need to resume peace negotiations and achieve a lasting ceasefire.

In the context of the Palestinian issue, the minister reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to the "two-state" principle and its support for solutions based on international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

An Israeli strike on the Hamas headquarters in Doha was carried out on September 9, 2025. Israel named this operation "Fiery Summit": the airstrike was conducted during a meeting that was discussing the latest ceasefire proposal by US President Donald Trump in the Gaza Strip.

The strike involved 15 Israeli fighter jets that used heavy bombs, as well as drones for support. According to the statement from the Israeli leadership, the airstrike is a response to the Hamas invasion of Israel on October 7, 2023, and to the terrorist attack in Jerusalem on September 8, 2025.

As a result of the attack, six people were killed; five of them were connected with Hamas, and one was a Qatari security service employee.
