Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will participate in celebrations in China marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
He will be present on September 3 at the military parade on Beijing's Tiananmen Square, according to the Xinhua news agency.
A total of 26 foreign leaders will observe the parade, including—in addition to Aliyev—Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, DPRK leader Kim Jong Un, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and other leaders.
Earlier, Xinhua reported that the air force units of the Chinese army would showcase several types of fighter jets, including modernized models, during their performance at the parade.
Leaders of EU countries declined to participate in the parade.
In April of this year, Aliyev already visited China. During the visit, a Joint Statement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China on the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership, a visa-free agreement between the two countries, and other documents were signed.
