Aliyev's Aide Met with American Lawmakers

Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan for Foreign Policy of the Presidential Administration, met with the head of the House Foreign Affairs Committee (lower house) of the US Congress, Brian Mast, and Senator Steve Daines.
As reported by the Azerbaijani Embassy in the United States, the meetings highlighted the "strategic importance of the August 8 Washington summit between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and American leader Donald Trump," and its "positive results for Azerbaijani-American relations and regional peace."
Hajiyev stressed the importance of repealing the 907th Amendment and invited the parliamentarians to visit Azerbaijan.
On August 8, a trilateral summit of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States took place in Washington. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, with the mediation of Donald Trump, signed a 7-point joint declaration and initialed an Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations.
In addition, the leaders of Azerbaijan and the United States signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Baku and Washington on the creation of a Strategic Working Group to prepare a Charter of Strategic Partnership between the two sides.
At the same time, Trump signed a document suspending the enforcement of the 907th Amendment to the "Freedom Support Act."
