Aliyev and Trump Exchange Compliments

US President Donald Trump was flattered by the remarks made about him by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The American leader shared an excerpt from Aliyev's speech at the III Shusha Global Media Forum on his Truth Social network, where the Azerbaijani president spoke about relations with the US and Donald Trump.
Specifically, Aliyev recalled that a year ago at a similar forum, he "did not predict Trump's victory." He stated, "I simply said that it would be preferable for the Azerbaijani people, given that he, like us, shares fundamental values, including family values. He is the only US president who has not started wars. And in the short time he has been in power, it's clear that he is a man who ends wars. We are also very grateful to him personally for his desire to help Azerbaijan and Armenia finally reach an agreement. Despite being busy with more global international security issues, he also keeps the situation in the South Caucasus in his sights. We in Azerbaijan are, of course, happy that he won, for many reasons, and naturally, we wish him to see things through, especially regarding the 'Washington swamp,' to drain it to the bottom," the Azerbaijani president noted.
Aliyev, in turn, thanked Trump on the social network X for his attention to Aliyev's assessment of the American president's personality and activities.
"I would like to express my gratitude to President Donald Trump for sharing my comments on social media about the US-Azerbaijan partnership and his commitment to a peaceful agenda – both globally and in our region – which I spoke about at the Global Media Forum in Shusha. I want to reiterate our support for President Trump's vision and efforts to promote peace and stability worldwide, including our region," Aliyev wrote.
Emphasizing that he shares "common values with Trump, such as the importance of family traditions," Aliyev expressed hope that "American-Azerbaijani relations will reach a new level during his presidency." Aliyev concluded, "We wish him further success in all his endeavors towards this goal."
